Abstract

In the present study, the optical response of a hybrid molecule composed of a semiconductor quantum dot (SQD) coupled to a metal-shell/dielectric-core eccentric nanoshell (ENS) is investigated. This research aims to study the effect of symmetry breaking in metallic nanoshells on the optical properties of the SQD-ENS hybrid system, considering core offset as an important geometric factor. In the framework of the density matrix and solution of the dynamical motion equations of the system in the steady state, the linear optical susceptibility as a function of the probe field is obtained, and the optical spectrum of the SQD-ENS hybrid system for different core-offset parameters for an eccentric dielectric core-silver shell nanoparticle is shown and discussed. It is shown that the core offset of the plasmonic nanoshell strongly affects the absorption and dispersion spectra of the system.
