Abstract
Recently CdTe thin film has been widely used as an absorber layer in high efficient solar cells. In this work by writing the necessary computer programs to calculate numerically the transport equations governing multilayer heterogeneous solar cells in the Maple software environment, the performance of CdTe-based solar cells has been simulated and studied. At first, the performance parameters of the FTO/i-SnO2/CdS/CdTe/Cu2O structure are calculated as a referenced cell; then, by changing the density of acceptor impurity atoms, the number of absorber layers is increased from one to two, four and eight, while cell structural parameters are constant and we have investigated and calculated the effect of the number of absorbent layers on the performance parameters, such as conversion efficiency. The results show that the efficiency of eight absorber layer solar cells is increased by about % 13.35 compared to single absorber layer solar cells.
